TOGETHER, WE'RE MAKING AN IMPACT
ACCESS – All four of Green-Wood’s entrances are now open every day of the week. We are proud to share our lush 478 acres with friends from all over Brooklyn, New York, and the world.
PRESERVATION – Expert conservators and talented preservation students safeguard the legacy of our extraordinary outdoor museum. And through our Bridge to Crafts Careers program, we're training the next generation of preservationists.
EDUCATION – We offer standards-based school programs in history, architecture and art history, and—as of this year—environmental education. Green-Wood’s countless stories, over 100,000 monuments, and nearly 8,000 trees, bring lessons to life through hands-on experiences.
CONSERVATION – Planting trees and caring for "veteran trees" ensures this landscape remains for future Brooklynites to enjoy. Meanwhile, our annual Research Awards provide grants that enable early-career environmental scientists to conduct research right here at Green-Wood.
PROGRAMS – We offer hundreds of arts, cultural, and historical programs year-round for our diverse and growing audience. With so many trolley tours, concerts, birding walks, death education programs, contemporary art installations, and more—there is something for everyone.
RESEARCH – With help from the National Endowment for the Humanities, we’re launching a first-of-its-kind database that makes our detailed burial registries (1840-1937) searchable and accessible to all. Meanwhile, our World War II Project continues to identify further WWII veterans interred at Green-Wood. Building on our World War I and Civil War Projects, we’ve identified and told the stories of over 5,000 veterans!
